Chemical and Biological
Bloodborne Pathogens
Objective: Employees who may come into contact with human blood or blood-derived body fluids during the normal course of their job duties will be instructed concerning methods to identify and properly handle potentially infectious materials, including pathogenic microorganisms, human blood spills, and human cell lines.

Length of Training: 40 minutes
Frequency of Training: Required Annually
Training Description: Online and instructor-led classroom training, in compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's Bloodborne Pathogen Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030.
Laboratory Chemical and Biological Safety & Hazardous Waste Disposal
Objective: Identification of chemical and biological hazards in laboratories, including physical and health hazards; methods for reduction of exposure; administrative and engineering controls; safe storage and handling procedures; chemical and biological waste disposal procedures.

Length of Training: 30 minutes
Frequency of Training: Required initially within 60 days of job assignment, and annually thereafter.
Training Description: Online and Instructor lead training in compliance with OSHA's Laboratory Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1450, and with EPA's Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, 40 CFR 206-265.
Occupational Safety
Hazard Communication
Objective: Identification of chemical hazards in non-laboratory settings, inlcuding custodial chemicals, paints, solvents, degreasers, industrial chemicals, and fuels; instruction in proper handling, appropriate engineering controls, reducing exposure, proper handling, storage and disposal.

Frequency of Training: Required initially within 60 days of job assignment, and annually thereafter
Training Description: Instructor-led classroom trianing in compliance with OSHA's Hazard Communication Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1200.
General Safety Asbestos Awareness
Objective: Develop an understanding of asbestos hazards and skills to recognize and avoid exposure to asbestos containing materials

Training Description: Classroom lecture, discussion and demonstrations
Back Safety/Safe Lifting and Carrying
Objective: Develop knowledge and skills to safely lift and carry loads without injury to the back and other body systems

Emergency Actions/Disaster Preparedness
Objective: Develop knowledge and skills needed to construct facility plans and safely respond to emergencies or disasters.

Office Safety / Ergonomics
Objective: Develop understanding of safe work practices and recognition of hazards necessary to perform safe and healthful work in the office environment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Objective: Develop knowledge of when PPE is necessary, which to use, how to use and limitations of PPE
Length of Training: 1 hour
Training Description: Classroom lecture, discussion, demonstrations, and student performance
Portable Fire Extinguisher Usage
Objective: Develop knowledge and skills needed to effectively extinguish small fires
Length of Training: 45-50 minutes
Training Description: Classroom lecture, discussion and performance based
Respiratory Protection
Objective: Develop knowledge and skills needed to safely use respirators to protect against respiratory exposure to chemical vapors and dust and other particulates
